Did you know that according to the EPA, there are over 85,000 chemicals in use today. And only about 1% are fully tested for safety. The regulatory world for chemicals is very different than pharmaceuticals. In order for a pharmaceutical to reach the market, the company has to prove it's safety. But not so much for chemicals. It's actually up to the EPA to prove that the chemical is unsafe. We are all keenly aware that the EPA lacks the resources to thoroughly vet all ~85,000 chemicals in use.

Why am I telling you this?

These chemicals in the air, soil, water, personal care items, and food all impact our health and wellbeing.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Public Health, and my first career was an Active Duty Environmental Health Officer with the U.S. Public Health Service, stationed in northern MN. I learned a great deal about the impact these chemicals have on our food systems, our health, and most importantly the health of our kids.

These chemicals keep us overweight, they play havoc on our nervous system and brain function, and they can make us very, very sick. I became acutely aware of this when I started working with an elementary where the kids were being diagnosed with all of these strange cancers. Thought to be linked to the exorbitant pesticide usages in the surrounding potato fields.

I knew there had to be a better way. This is when I came across regenerative agriculture and began growing my own food with new vigor. Growing up in rural Wisconsin, this was just the way of life. But now I grew my food out of the desire to reduce my exposure to chemicals, and save money where I could in buying organic foods.

I received my Permaculture Design Certificate from Midwest Permaculture and have been designing regenerative agriculture homesteads ever since. Creating spaces that not only eliminated the need for synthetic chemicals, but actually regenerated the land. Re-established healthy flora in the soils, pollinators in the air, and produced foods that nourished our bodies.

My passion for local food led me to earning a Master's Degree in Natural Resource Management. During this time, I was building my third homestead around the regenerative principles laid out in Permaculture.

As part of this I awakened a passion for how we can use plants to restore our health, and even enhance our health. Elevate our health to levels we didn't even know were possible. Health is more than just the absence of disease. It's the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. This is where I found herbalism and homeopathy. I truly believe God has provided us with so much that we need, and its up to us to learn how to use His gifts.

When my own son got sick, I learned about how the food we eat is contributing to his condition. And when my daughter came along and suffered from severe eczema, I learned food was the most significant factor contributing to her constant discomfort. From there I decided to dive deep into learning how to help them heal, then help myself heal, and eventually even my husband.

I'm currently earning my second Master's Degree in Integrative and Functional Nutrition. I've worked on every kind of condition from common colds and flus, cuts and scrapes, to mental health issues, balancing hormones, to febrile seizures, eczema, food intolerances, mold, and most recently using our genomics to help solve the riddles of health. Personalized care as it ought to be.

It's my mission to empower every Momma across this beautiful land to use these same tools to confidently take care of herself and her family. Show herself the same love she shows her family and communities. And in turn teach a whole new generation the tools to take care of themselves in the most natural, wholistic, nourishing ways possible.
